The Getaway: Enter the Driftless Area, a part of the midwest that offers constant dramatic landscapes, hundreds of cold water streams, and thousands of acres of forest that surround small family farms. Enter a geography that is very different from the cities and flat plains of the upper midwest. Enter a quiet natural setting in which a couple may find abundant solitude and ”down time”.

The Romance: What awaits you is a beautiful modern home set on a hillside and backed by deciduous forest; large king or queen beds; a warm gas fireplace; a two person whirlpool tub; comfy robes; delicious hot breakfasts; outdoor evening fires complete with hot chocolate; miles of private hiking trails; a sky so black at night that you will never, ever be able to count the stars; intimate, quiet time that is so difficult to find in your normal life.

The Pine Haven Room

Drive the beautiful hills of Southwest Wisconsin; drive along the Mississippi River, or the Wisconsin River, or the ever meandering Kickapoo River. Dine at small rural restaurants, a folksy organic cafe, or a chic but informal restaurant located in a historic building. Have a glass of wine at a local vineyard or a glass of beer at a superb brew pub.

We think this is a romantic getaway that you’ll want to return to time and time again.

The Inn at Lonesome Hollow offers a completely private 160 acre setting in the beautiful Driftless Area of Southwest Wisconsin. If you have not seen our Driftless area and our Kickapoo Valley hills, you are in for a most pleasant surprise. Our landscape is one of continuous hills and valleys – a more rugged landscape than you have seen anywhere else in Wisconsin. The surrounding counties are rural and sparsely populated.

In this setting we offer our guests deluxe lodging options: three beautiful B&B rooms, a private, two-bedroom cabin, and two exceptional two-bedroom suites. All of our units have private baths and real gas fireplaces. Four of the units offer two-person whirlpool tubs. Full country breakfasts, winter hiking and snowshoeing, and memorable quiet time complete the enjoyment of a Lonesome Hollow holiday getaway.
